I run this site alone, so there's no marketing team writing this — here's exactly what happens with any data, in the same plain language as everything else on here.
I use Plausible to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you individually, doesn't follow you to other sites, and only stores anonymous, aggregated numbers — never your IP address in a way that identifies you. There's no cookie banner because there's nothing here that needs one.
Some links to operators and attractions (marked as such where they appear) are affiliate links — if you book through one, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking one may set a cookie on their site, not this one, so they can credit the referral. This never changes what I recommend — I write the same thing whether or not a link earns anything.
Listings and events show information businesses have chosen to make public (name, hours, contact details) — not personal data about you as a visitor.
Getting in touch at hello@northandness.scot goes straight to me, not into any marketing list or database. I don't send newsletters or add anyone to anything without being asked.
The site is hosted on Vercel, its content is stored with Sanity, and analytics run through Plausible — all of whom process some technical data (like server logs) purely to keep the site running, not to build a profile of you.
This is a small, independently-run guide, not a corporation — if anything here is unclear or you want something explained further, just email hello@northandness.scot and I'll answer it myself.
